How to Draw a Map
October 20, 2009 at 7:02 pm

How to Draw a MapDrawing a map to provide directions to specific locations takes some careful attention. It is crucial to draw the map right so that the person for whom you are drawing the map doesn't get confused with the ways and subways to that point. While guiding someone to a particular destination with the help of drawing a map, there are certain crucial elements that should be taken into consideration.

  1. The first and foremost element is the materials used to draw a map. It's crucial to pick materials such as papers, fine tip pen, etc. of good quality so that the ink doesn't get smudged on the paper and the pen makes clear and precise lines for the drawing. Besides you need a pencil to draw the base of the map.
  2. Once you are done with collecting the materials, here comes the first step of how to draw a map. To begin with draw the outline of the map with light strokes of pencil. This gives you opportunity to correct your mistakes by erasing the lines that are not necessary for the sketch. Don't make the lines darker for it may leave marks while using eraser.
  3. Apart from the exact destination, include important landmarks with which people can recognize the exact location. This helps them visualize exactly where they are on the map. You can also color the landmarks so that the viewer of the map can distinguish them clearly. How to Draw a Map
  4. Write the names of important landmarks, streets and major high-ways on the map to increase the convenience of using it. If possible, you can include the exit number on the highways so that the viewers can easily follow the streets and the lanes.
  5. Include a scale to inform people about the distance on the map. The scale gives approximate information about the miles or kilometers that are represented with inches and centimeters on the map. The viewers of the map can get an idea about the distance they need to travel to get their destination.
  6. Increase the usability of your map by listing the points of interest such as rest shops, restaurants and shopping centers at the bottom of the map.

How to Write a Diary
October 20, 2009 at 2:10 pm

How to Write a DiaryWriting a diary is the best way to give vent to pent-up emotions. You can easily reveal all your confidential and deepest thoughts that otherwise would remain buried deep inside you. Acting as a trustful friend, diary keeps all the secrets to itself.

It can also serve the purpose of maintaining a record of special events or turning points in ones life. Learn the right way to write a diary through these instructions:

Instructions

  1. Prior writing about the day's event, mention the date and time on top of the page. Then you can start by writing "Dear Diary” as if you are referring a letter to someone you know. However, if you don't want to start like this, then simply drop the “Dear Diary” line and log the entries for the day. Mention all that you have done and experienced including people you met and interacted with, what was the interaction all about and all other happenings of the day.
  2. While writing a diary be honest and truthful. Being fake by including something fictional defeats the very purpose of writing a dairy. If you wish to write a story that is not from your real life, then diary is not the right place for it. Any fictional story with fictional characters cannot be labeled as your memoir or diary. How to Write a Diary
  3. You can include in your writing real names of the people with whom you interacted. However, if you do not want to state any body's name due to some reasons then you can simply use a code for their names that you alone will know. This is often preferred by people because it is the safer way of writing all kinds of comments, especially negative ones. There are always possibilities that your hidden secrets by chance get discovered and hurt people's feelings.
  4. Write diary on a regular basis. However, if you want to write only when something special or unexpected happens, skipping the days that were non-eventful, then make sure you just write the date, time and a single sentence stating that nothing new happened(on all the pages for which you don't have anything to write about).
  5. To make your diary writing more interesting add some photos. Any special moment or thing that actually inspired you can be captured and pasted into your diary page. But make sure you do not paste too many photos on your diary page because then it will become more of a scrapbook.
  6. Once your diary writing for the day is done, keep the dairy in a secure place. Do not let anybody know about the location of your diary. It's your personal thing and should be kept private for as long as you want.
  7. When you have completed your entire journal, you can put the diary in a safety deposit box. At last and but not the least, state some instructions in your last will and testament about whether you want your diary to be read by others or you want it to be discarded or burned. If you want your diary to be buried along with you after your death, then make sure you indicate this in your will.
