| Poptropica Haunted House: A Guide

| by Parker Simpson A new fun special mission is available for the fun kids game Poptropica. It’s called Haunted House and its a scary and spooky mini-mission made just for Halloween. It’s only available in the game for a short period of time, but it’s very fun to play and if you finish it you’ll be rewarded with some cool prizes at a party at the end of the mission. The first thing to do is to go to the Haunted House mini-mission. You get there by clicking on the promo in the lower-left corner of the Poptropica map. You will arrive by popping up out of the ground into a very strange and scary graveyard. You can click on the gravestones to see funny little messages about how the people there died, but the first thing you want to do for this mission is to get inside the haunted house. The house is to the left of the graveyard, but in order to get inside you need to get the key to the cellar door. There is a bat flying around and he is holding the key. To get the key from him, you need to catch him. Once you do, you have the key and then you can click on the cellar door to get inside. Inside the cellar you’ll see a furnace, a boiler, and a bunch of disconnected pipes between them. To solve this puzzle, rotate the pipe pieces by clicking on them until they connect the boiler to the furnace. When this happens, the boiler will turn on and start shooting steam up into the air. Now, jump up into the steam and it will launch you high in the air up to a small platform where you’ll find a red bottle of Draught of the Dead. This is the next item you need so pick it up. Now you’ll want to head inside the house to get the only items. The inside of the house is really spooky! There are a few things you need to get in here. The first is some ice cubes. Open the refrigerator to get the ice but you’ll see you need something to chip it out. Head upstairs to where you see the two knight statues. Jump on the head of the one holding the big pickaxe and it will drop it. Then pick it up and take it back to the refrigirator to get the ice. Next you want to get the lantern. Go all the way upstairs to the bedroom and click on the clocks on the mantle. The way to solve this puzzle is to get both clocks to strike midnight at the same time. If you put your cursor over one clock it starts to spin a little faster. This is how you can get them to catch up to each other. When you get this puzzle done, you’ll get the lantern. Next you need to get into the attic. But the trick to getting there is to find something that lets you fly. This is the broom in the painting of the witch. Here’s what you do. Run over and click on the spider on the floor in the hall to get it to drop down. It will scare the witch in the painting and she will drop her broom. Now go stand on the broom and you can fly. Use it to go up into the attic and then go all the way to the left. You’ll see a chest. Click on it and you’ll do a sliding puzzle. This is really easy to solve if you pay close attention because all you need to do is the same moves you see but in reverse order. When you get the slider puzzle picture of the skull back into place you’ll get the chalice. The next step is to go talk to the ghost cat downstairs in the parlor next to the kitchen. The cat will tell you to light the lantern. You can do this by going back into the cellar and clicking on the barrel marked with the word kerosene. Then go back and talk to the cat one more time and he’ll tell you to bring the treasures to where the cherub cries. This means to go back to the graveyard where you started. There’s a big statue of a crying angel but now there’s a hole in the ground next to it. Click on the hole to go down and you’ll arrive at a special Halloween party. You’ll get a reward of 50 Poptropica Credits for completing this mission and you’ll be able to use your costumizer power to copy any of the costumes you see here. There are a lot of choices so have fun because you deserve it after solving this special Poptropica mini-quest. Being able to get into a car and drive to wherever we want, whenever we want is a luxury that so many of us have become accustomed to that it doesn’t look likely to change any time soon. However the type of cars we drive might, because of the damage we are currently doing to the Earths atmosphere. Cars have become so much a regular part of life, many people tend to judge the success of someone by the car they drive; if they drive a cheap, old car then they are often judged to be poor or working class, whereas if someone drives an expensive, flashy brand new car, then there are seen to be successful and immediately seem to warrant more respect, whether this is justified respect or not obviously depends on the individual. There is however, a rare type of car that few people will ever have the pleasure of being inside of, let alone driving or even owning. These kinds of cars are put under the label of exotic or luxury. The word exotic on its own means that something is unusual or strange in appearance, and so applying this cars immediately brings images of odd looking body shapes with some kind of psychedelic paint job. What the term exotic more accurately means when referring to cars is a car of extremely high standards that only the wealthiest of people could ever consider buying and that are generally not put into mass production. However, there are companies that put cars like this up for rent, and the better ones even do it for a reasonable price. | Using Requests For Proposals To Handle Procurements

| by Greg Jorgenson Whenever a division within my company starts looking for a third party to deal with a large part of their business, they turn to the procurements department to take care of the point of contact and to start the proposal process. There are also a lot of different companies that can handle this process for them, depending on their needs. The procurements department would then be responsible to review the possible companies and make the best possible recommendations. If one of the companies passes this initial screening test they will be asked to submit a formal proposal. In the past, we never worried about the format of the proposal, we just looked for the answers to certain questions. Thats all changed now. I was just informed by the procurements department that I was looking for a new vendor to handle any inbound data. That was fine, but then they asked if I wanted to potential companies to submit their proposal by EOI, RFP, or RFT. Expressions of Interest (EOI) ” an EOI is ideal for a company requesting help with a certain problem without knowing exactly how to solve the situation. Basically, you have a problem that needs to be fixed, but do not know what it will take to fix it. An EOI will provide solutions to your problem and provide the cost associated for fixing it. Request for Proposals (RFP) ” are used to purchase goods and services directly from a third party vendor. An RFP will include a solution on how to solve your problem. The better RFP will provide you with more than one solution. The document will include different options which will be priced accordingly. This will provide you with the flexibility you need to fix the problem, and have room in case anything else develops. This form of proposal is more common with consulting services or in the information and communication technologies field. RFTs ” Requests for Tenders ” are the proposals that are used when you need a specific solution to a specific problem. This means there will be limited room for flexibility, and the price will remain the same. For example, if you decide to add on a bathroom to the house, there may be some changes in the materials and labor costs between companies, but all the proposals are for the same solution. For my particular problem, Im going to need a lot of flexibility before it is solved. Thats why, in the end, I decided to ask the procurements department to gets requests for proposals from all the top contenders. It might take some time for a company to complete an RFP, depending on how detailed the projects is. By collecting a lot of RFPs, though, you will have a better chance of getting the best deal possible. Checking with online retailers can be fruitful, but it can also be risky business. You need to watch out for hidden costs and fees, like maybe they’ve included an excessively high shipping and handling cost. It pays to check every detail of the transaction before committing. You may find that a couple of hundred dollars have been included for a TV stand. It could be you don’t need that stand, and why pay the money for something you can do without. Try to negotiate yourself the deal you really want and don’t just accept what’s thrown together for you. In this day and age, negotiation is key to getting the deal you want. When purchasing a Plasma TV, you need to know that the majority of dealers will enlist people to sell their TVs and give them an ‘authorization’ to do so. That means they represent the main company. Many of the online retailers don’t have this ‘authorization’, and therefore purchasing from them can be a high risk. They may not honor a warranty and it’s hard to take any action against them. Lots of customers have bought online and spent days waiting for a TV that never came. When this happens, there’s hardly any way to get your money back from these shysters. When you do your shopping, make sure of your budget, and your available space and viewing room, and your viewing style. You don’t want to grab one just because it’s cheap if it’s too big or too small for the room it will be watched in. Make sure your TV is the proper fit before laying out the money. Many people don’t think about it, but Sam’s Club can sometimes have a TV or two for sale. They’re refurbished, but the prices get slashed heavily, and Sam’s Club will stand by them. That gives you an added confidence in buying it. You can buy a warranty and Sam’s will honor it. This is one really good way to purchase a cheap TV. Buying the cheapest TV isn’t always easy but it’s not beyond your reach either. Buying at the original price isn’t necessary when there are retailers who are cutting the prices. And with so many new models coming out each year, it doesn’t take long for some TVs to be considered ‘old’ and the price to go down. So with a little research and some looking around, you should be able to find a cheap TV that will give you good service over the next few years. |

Server racks are often the culprit when it comes to ineffective energy usage, because ordinary racks not only waste energy, but also you need a lot of them. Jonathan Koomey, data center energy expert, said, ?The main reason for focusing on servers is that they represent the largest portion of the IT energy load [estimated at between 50% and 75%]. Servers deliver the service. They?re the heart and brains of the whole enterprise?the thing that drives the end result.? It costs an average $114 annually to operate a server rack for the typical IT company. This gives you an opportunity to make your server racks more efficient, to save money and help the environment at the same time. You can do this by choosing servers with fans and efficient power supplies and processors. To make sure you have energy efficient server racks, first you will want to check your power supply. Look at the AC and DC power to see if the conversion is inefficient. Typically, lower end server racks only convert at 60 to 70 percent. Choose a manufacturer who provides efficient server racks, as the CEO of the Rocky Mountain Institute Amory Lovins stated, ?When customers realize that saving a watt in the data center is around $20 to $30, at 6 cents a kilowatt-hour, they will tend to favor manufacturers with efficient equipment.? The next thing to look at for energy efficient server racks is to check the power supply certification in the body. Depending on your server rack, you could be saving up to 301 kWh per machine every year, rather than wasting all that energy and money. If you really want to commit to saving energy, consider joining the Climate Savers Computing Initiative (CSCI), which means a commitment to 89% or higher efficiency in 20% of your server racks. The CSCI will guide you towards servers that qualify for their specifications, and they provide you with an entire catalogue of energy efficient server racks that fit their requirements. Another way to find energy efficient server products is to find products with the Energy Star rating, as determined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Every little bit helps when trying to conserve energy with server racks. As it stands today, about 95% efficiency is the most for which you could hope. ?Companies may push above CSCI?s Gold level, which means 92% efficient supply, and you may see the industry push one more step beyond that. But I don?t think the economics will justify any increased focus beyond that point,? said Javier Izquierdo, director of power supply development for the Industry Standard Servers Division at HP. After this level of energy efficiency, server racks are about as good as it can get. When choosing server racks, be sure to choose ones that are energy efficient, which will save you money and hassle down the road. In some cases laser companies have actively joined in the discussion forums and proactively address concerns of individuals as soon as they’re posted, leaving an impression of healthy and proactive customer support. These tactics seem to be working. The IPL and laser manufactures who are active have a much lower incidence of negative comments from plastic surgeons who see their calls for support go unanswered. In the end it’s a money game. Many cosmetic dermatologists who are looking for new IPL and laser technology are finding their way to these forums and asking their more experienced peers for advice. IPL and laser manufacturers who aren’t playing the game can’t expect to win. When it is administered to a person as a treatment, what occurs is the natural chemical compound binds to the heavy metals, calcium deposits and plague which is then removed from the body via the liver and kidneys. The derivation of the word chelation is from a Greek word, Chele, meaning claw. In chelation therapy, it refers to the claw-like action of grabbing toxins that have built up in the body. When chelation therapy is administered to a person, the chemical compound mainly used today is EDTA (ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid) which is an amino acid. When Chelation therapy is administered to a person it is either intravenously, orally or by suppository. It is administered by a doctor after tests are done to determine the correct dosage for the individual. The treatment by using chelation was researched and discovered in the early 1900’s after World War I to handle the toxic effects of a poisonous gas called lewisite. Lewisite contained high doses of arsenic. At first a different natural compound was used to do the chelation therapy but it had severe side-effects. During World War II, Navy personnel suffered lead poisoning as a result of doing their jobs painting the hulls of ships. It was at that time that EDTA was introduced and has been in use until today. Other chelation compounds were also discovered and are still in use today, too. Around 1950, another situation with metal toxicity occurred when battery factory workers suffered lead poisoning. This particular situation opened the doors for more research into chelation therapy and what else it could handle because some of the factory workers had suffered from angina and coronary artery problems before the chelation treatment for the lead poisoning but afterwards the symptoms ceased. Seeing that the patients not only were healthier because of eliminating the lead poisoning, but also showed improvements relating to heart problems, further research was done. The findings included the fact that patients that had an overabundance of calcium in their systems were also successfully treated to balance the calcium. Researched continued to discover other used for chelation therapy. It was found that EDTA reversed degenerative diseases such as arteriosclerotic heart disease (arteriosclerotic means a chronic disease in which thickening, hardening, and loss of elasticity of the arterial walls of the heart which results in impaired blood circulation. It develops with aging, and in hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and other conditions). After the research was done, more uses for chelation therapy were found. Today it’s use has expanded to not only be useful to rid the body of heavy metals, calcium build ups and for degenerative heart problems but also for reducing cholesterol, toxins and other minerals that build up and form deposits in the system. It is a long term proven method for enhancing and improving circulation and for improving the health of arteries. It’s up to Nancy Langenkamp to try to stop Freddy Krueger. Cast includes Lionel Atwill, Fay Wray, Glenda Farrell, Allen Vincent, Blunt McHugh, and Arthur Edmund Carewe. (77 minutes, 1933) From Justin to Kelly: Drink sunscreen rather than sitting through this insipid lyrical piece made for Television’s American Hero megastars, which finds them trying to make a love connection throughout Miami spring break. No one was anticipating Shakespeare, however there’s less weight here than in an Archie comic magazine. | by Michael Edwards When doing the research for a article on new green products, I was unaware of many of the different ways to convert the energy of the sun into electrical power. I have written about solar cell or photovoltaic cell systems, so let’s look at another type of solar energy system. The Stirling engine goes back to the early 1800’s, when steam was the order of the day. Steam was used to power factories, trains, and many types of work that required lots of horsepower. However, with steam came the danger of a boiler blowing up when something went wrong. Robert Stirling saw a different approach. His invention still used fire to heat the hot chamber but instead of steam, he used the heat to move pistons. The Stirling engine is a heat engine that is vastly different from the internal combustion engine. It is highly efficient, operates quietly and is great at converting otherwise wasted heat into kinetic energy. Its only drawback is loss of power from internal fraction. The gasses (most often air) used inside the engine remain inside and are never expelled. With no exhaust valves like a gasoline or diesel engine and with no explosions from combustion, the engines run very quietly. The operation of the Stirling engine is not complex, it only requires an external heat source. Some heat sources have been fuel, while some solar designs use a Fernell lens, and the latest source is large parabolic mirrors. Operation is simple: the gases are heated by an external source, causing the hot gas to move toward a cold chamber, in the process, a piston is driven and a flywheel rotated. To put it simply, movement is achieved from heat expansion. A few knock-offs of the Stirling engines are small enough to fit in your hand. Others system are designed to drive electrical generators. They are a about the size of a fifty-gallon drum. The Stirling engine is ideal for use in a solar power generating system. With one of the hottest heat sources available (sunlight), the hot chamber will continue to operate without external fuels as long as there is daylight. This makes it ideal for use as a peaker type power plant when the demands for electricity are at there highest. The engine and support equipment is contained in a package small enough to be suspended from the end of a metal arm, much like the design of satellite TV systems but on a much larger scale. Some systems are producing 25K watts of power and have been installed and operational for a couple of years. In another article on green products, I will be doing a comparison of the different types of solar energy producing products to see how they play out and if they are a viable alternative power source or just a bunch of fancy equipment. Whether it be insects that are communal to the dolphins who use a more obvious form of telepathy called sonar, the fact is that telepathy is real for many critters. Some anthropologists are also fully convinced that there are some primitive tribes who today can still use the power of telepathy to communicate with one another. There are many common cases of telepathy, though it is still considered by some to just be witch craft or that telepathy does not exist at all. While the reality is that one can learn this ability as one learns other aspects of human life such as writing and talking to one another in a way that is comprehensible. If we have problems with these tasks, we do not say they do not exist because we can not learn them, we just adapt our learning to circumvent the block or problem that causes the learning disability. People all the time experience ‘gut feelings’ that turn out to be accurate guideposts, feel as if someone is looking at them from behind (which turns out often to be true), have intuitive perceptions about another person that largely turn out to be accurate, have a ’strange feeling’ that someone they haven’t been in touch with in a while is going to contact them or visit them and it happens, get the feeling that someone they love is in danger and it turns out to be true (this most commonly happens between mother and child, but it’s not limited to that), and so on. These are all aspects of telepathy. It may be wondered by some when did we stop having more profound telepathy as opposed to intuition. More formalized religion can surely take some of the blame. Most forms of structured religious beliefs do not adhere to the fact that telepathy exists, instead it is assumed and associated with darker cultures. This gives the common man a fear of what telepathy can do that may be evil. Because of the nature of these older religions and the stigma of telepathy, it is hard for some to have any thoughts of telepathy even truly existing. The only faith any more is in specific religious leaders or prophets instead of putting faith in themselves as people. Because of the celestial quality of formalized religious gods, whether they be Christian, Jewish or Muslim, most of the traditional influential people have nixed the idea of telepathy as it does not fit in with faith of said gods. It is rare, but more modern day theology pursuers are beginning to realize that telepathy may indeed exist. With our new scientific age, scholars scoff at the thought of telepathy. It can not be explained in a way that makes sense so it does not exist. Because we do not use our other five senses to access telepathy, the theory is that it can not be a true sense as we know it. The fact there is a plethora of data to prove that telepathy does exist does not matter to those who choose to close their eyes to the facts. Yet, emotions and instincts are known and accepted to exist by scientists. So it would seem that what we have here is simple prejudice: scientists can feel emotions themselves so they have to accept them. Instincts can also be felt by humans, and instincts are needed to explain much animal behavior, so they feel compelled to accept them, too. Yet these things are as elusive as telepathy. Could it be jealousy on the part of those scientists who cannot exercise their own telepathic abilities so don’t want anyone to have them? And could it at other times be labeling a phenomenon as being the more familiar ‘instinctive-ness response’ when really it was telepathic in nature? It is hard to say how we lost our original telepathic ability. It may be that with the advancement of men and technology, we lost our need to be more telepathic. Colonel Devoe agrees, and the two must uncover the conspiracy that has lead to nuclear weapons falling into the wrong hands. They miss Africa, and wind up on the magical island of Madagascar. Starsky and Hutch: Starsky and Hutch are detectives in the Bay City police department. These two are undercover cops back in the 70’s. Somehow these two total opposites combine to make a great detective team. Alaska: Adolescent venture on a grand scale, as a brother and sister take off looking for their dad and his downed plane. Structured like an old B movie melodrama, however implemented with conviction contrary to magnificent, snowy landscape and characterizing an irresistible polar bear who befriends the youngsters. Heston, whose child prompted the drama, plays a mean, cunning old man. Cast includes Thora Birch, Vincent Kartheiser, Dirk Benedict, Charlton Heston, Duncan Fraser, and Gordon Tootoosis. (110 minutes, 1996) Shadowlands: Based on the story of British author C. S. Lewis the Lion, The Sorcerer and the Closet whose content is of the hard life he had as an Oxford man in the 1950s. He is rattled by his meeting with a forthright American poet. The film is knowledgeable and moving, with Hopkins in top form and Winger his match. The other performers are also excellent. This was filmed on location at Oxford. due to it’s, well…. sexiness! The Air is one of the sleekest laptops on the planet. As they stressed on the advertising campaigns, the laptop is thin enough to fit inside a manila envelope! The MacBook Air’s keyboard is something that was well designed by Apple. It’s great to type with.
The separate buttons for keys make making typing mistakes next to impossible, unlike standard keyboards
which have joined buttons, which leads to sliding of fingers etc. The 13-inch LED screen is simply a pleasure. It consumes tiny amounts of power where larger backlit screens would guzzle the power. The efficient screen produces vibrant, high quality, bright and sharp displays, which you wouldn’t expect on a screen size this small. On the negative side, the MacBook Air is only manufactured with a glossy screen, so working outdoors with this laptop will be a bit of a problem. Being such a small laptop, the MacBook air doesn’t have space to cater for large “luxuries” such as the disc drove.
Because of this, the MacBook Air comes with small adapters, which lets you
connect with DVI, USB or your external disc drive that comes with the Air. As do all Apple machines, the MacBook Air runs Leopard. The only changes to the OS are to utilise the laptop’s oversized multi-touch touchpad. The Air now supports multi-finger gestures,
for example you can move three fingers across the touchpad to go backwards and forwards in the internet browser,
Safari. Of course, the Air’s OS is just like all other MacBooks; beautiful and functional. It’s a pleasure to use. The Air is an awesome piece of tech. The high pricing is the only thing that may stop you from sprinting to the store to get one of these. If $1500 is in your price range, this is the laptop for you.
