SEO is just a fancy term for teaching Google about your website so it can send the best traffic your way and place the proper ads on your page. Most web sites do not focus on keywords or keyword optimization. The website authors do not do the proper keyword research and so the pages and the site are not keyword optimized. Then when Google spiders the site what does it find? A whole bunch of keywords but very little uniformity, and if by accident there is some keyword uniformity, what is the keyword? Worse yet the keyword or long tail keywords don’t even pertain to the main subject of the site. So what is a webster to do? Take a hard look at your website or blog: what is the main subject? Do you have multiple subjects? Are the subjects related? Is your visual subject different from your textual subject? If we look over at a cooking site, can you find the main topic? Would it be desserts, beef, American, French, or general? Now therein lies the problem: the information is too general. If we are doing a niche site, we need to be more specific. So we need to break a general site into ten or twenty sites, with each site concerned with one food group, say beef or salads. Now we are talking about a niche. Got the idea? Now for each major topic, you will need to create a blog or website. However, first you need to research the keyword you will use for each of your major topics. This is where Google’s Keyword Tool (under Adwords) comes in to play. When you use this tool properly, it will help you to focus on a proper keyword or long tail keyword. After you have completed your research and have determined the best keyword, it is time to find a URL that will contain your new keyword. Go to Blogger and see what can find. When you find a URL with your keyword then start using your keyword on every page and in every article, including the Privacy Page and the About Page. When you have completed your first website, go on to the next and do the same till you have covered all your categories or keywords. Take any articles that were already on your old site and rewrite them using the appropriate keyword for the article. Make sure you use your keyword or phrase in the title, opening paragraph, body and closing paragraph. Copy that article to the new website and publish it. Does your site contain pictures? Good! Make sure that every picture has a sentence or caption that includes your keyword. Last, make sure not to exceed one or two uses of your keyword per one hundred article body words, or Google may flag you site for keyword stuffing and sandbox you until you correct the problem. Review of the rules: make sure your site sticks to one topic, make sure you research your keyword or long tail keyword, and use your keywords in every article and page on your site to make money online. We all look forward to the latest electronics and other hi tech toys that come out such as the Wii, Blackberry or iPhone. Besides the new computers, cell phones, and other usual electronics there are also golf gadgets, cookware and all sorts of hi tech gadgetry for just about every interest imaginable. The year 2009 has seen lots of surprises, advances in technology, and some alternatives and price breaks on some high demand hi tech gadgets. There are new gadgets being invented all the time which draw on what has been hot now and in the past. There are also new contenders in the hi tech market to challenge the more established companies like Apple. At the Consumer Electronics Show in January, some of the hottest 2009 hi tech gadgets were on display. This show unveiled a dazzling array of the latest hi tech gadgets, from practical new advances in technology, to the most wacky, fun and creative gadgetry you could imagine. This show had something to please just about anyone. One very unusual new gadget on display was the 3-D web cam from Promotion and Display Technology Limited. The hi tech web cam comes with two lenses, making it resemble some sort of space alien. The web cam is mounted to your computer monitor and sends 3-D moving images. Lenovo’s ThinkPad W700ds notebook was unveiled at the show. This innovative notebook computer features two screens, and the extra screen adjusts kind of like a review mirror of a car would. The second screen is used when working on some applications or pictures that would otherwise take up the entire screen on the main notebook screen. Another new high tech gadget unveiled by Lenovo at the show was a desktop PC which is an all-in-one integrated computer that features a remote control that can be used by gamers. It is similar in a lot of ways to a Nintendo Wii controller. The remote can be used to be a virtual moving object like a tennis racket. MSI, a Taipei company, had their new X-Slim Series X320 notebook on display that is only .77 inches thick. This measurement is quite close to Apple’s Macbook Air. The difference is that the MSI notebook is much less expensive at $700 to $1000 with the Air costing at least $1,799. | by David Robertson PowerPoint offers two methods of adding images to a slide: as an independent object or as a background. The advantage of having the image independent is that you can manipulate it more easily: you can position it anywhere on the slide, resize it or crop it. You can also move it in front or behind other objects at will. Setting an image as the background to a slide always places it behind all other objects and since it can’t be highlighted like other objects, it effectively gets locked in that position and can’t get in the way. Background images are often used on slide masters and, naturally, anything placed on the slide master will also be visible on all slides based on that master. However, background images can also be used on individual slides. Simply activate the slide and then click on the Design Tab of the PowerPoint ribbon. Next, click on the Launch button in the bottom right of the Background group to display the Format Background dialog. There are two sections within the Format Background dialog: Fill and Picture. In the Fill section, you need to click on the radio button labelled Picture or texture Fill. Next, you need to click on the File button to locate the image you want to use as a background. Then, optionally, you can switch to the Picture section and apply effects to the image such as changing the contrast or brightness or recolouring the image as a kind of duotone. If you choose some options and don’t like the result, simply click on the button marked Reset Picture. Having these options available even when the image is inserted as a background is extremely useful. In previous versions of PowerPoint, the image editing options were only available with independent images. You can estimate the amount of power a generator creates using the following formula: Power(Watts) = (Wind Speed)^3 * (Blade Diameter)^2 * 0.00478 The speed of the wind makes the most difference, because it’s value is to the power of 3 in the formula. An example calculation for a wind power generator using a good wind speed (10mph) and blade diameter (8ft): W = (10*10*10) * (8*8) * 0.00478 = 305 watts/hour – x 24 hours and you can calculate 7.3 kWh generated per day by a wind power generator. An average home uses about 12-20 kWh/day. Of course if you conserve your power you can reduce that to much less – even down to 5 kWh per day. So if you don’t have a great average wind speed in your area, a wind power generator can significantly reduce your power bill, and it may only cost you $200. |

It is expecting to have to lay off as many as 500 of the 1,600 it currently has working at their headquarters. The company, owned by News Corp, is attempting to slash expenses to assist in the brawl with arch enemy Facebook. MySpace now had devoted to a 12 year lease on a Playa Vista building near Los Angeles, CA. The lease would have cost the business around $350 million. At the present, because of financial hardships faced by the corporation, it has backed out of the charter. The structure was a 420,000 square foot workplace space in Play Vista, California. The market share for MySpace has been going down gradually since it was purchased by Rupert Murdoch?s News Corp in 2005. It has been trailing guests and advertisers to Facebook, and even more recently, Twitter. In my own estimation, as well as the view of many of my associates, is that MySpace is a 2nd rate Facebook. Although many of us have been using MySpace for longer, the total sight plan as well as some of the additional unsavory consumers have made the site really come in second place to Facebook, but even now well above the Xuqa. Now, even though Twitter isn?t my favorite social networking thing, I find myself on it more than I am on MySpace?maybe its because it is one of the only social networking applications on my new telephone. So it appears that Tom will be trailing almost a third of his associate friends on MySpace. I hope that those developers and programmers find work, but not at Facebook because I like Facebook the way it is, even if all the applications and quizzes are really annoying at times. |
