Best Apple Notebooks On Sale
October 7, 2009 at 6:09 pm

by Patricia Jones

The modern world is practically based on and composed of a lot of technological inventions. We seem to be unable to do anything without technology. One of the inventions many of us cannot do without is the PC.

The latest developments in the field of computers have brought us the laptops. When discussing about laptops, which are also referred to as notebook computers, we actually imply small PCs for mobile use.

We can virtually retrieve all the basic components in laptops from desktops. Thus, laptops include the display, the keyboard, a pointing device – touchpad or pointing stick, and the battery.

The difference lies in the fact that all these components are to be found into one single unit that is also portable. The batteries are the main distinction and individual feature specific to laptops, but the recharging mode is carried out through an AC/DC adapter that allows extensive functionality.

The very name of notebooks comes from the thin shape and small size of these computers. Laptops thickness seldom goes higher than 1.5 inches and their overall size specifics range from 10×8 inches (13 inch display) to 15×11 inches (17 inch display) or up. Furthermore, laptops are built light, weighing no more than twelve pounds. Last but not least, the flipping feature allows for a good protection of the screen and makes portability possible.

Personal computers were produced for the first time at the beginning of the 1970s and not long after those years the idea of portable PCs – laptops, appeared. The person who imagined this was Alan Kay of Xerox PARC. In 1972 he put his idea on paper under the name of Dynabook.

The first laptops were available on the market only in 1981. The Osborne 1 and then, in the same year, the Epson HX-20 were the first portable computers available for public use. Since then laptops have gained a lot in terms of proficiency.

Unfortunately, there are downsides to the use of laptops too. First we need to see the good parts to be able to investigate the flaws. The main and most important advantage of laptops is evidently their portability. Moreover, laptops allow work continuation in case of accidental power outages. Furthermore, laptops use less electricity and generate a lower amount of heat as compared to desktops. The disadvantages of laptops come from the standardization and compatibility issues. Despite of some accepted world standards for the making of the elements for the peripherals and add-in PC cards in desktop computers, the processor and hard driver manufacturing part does not fall subject to any international regulation yet.

What Is CPA Marketing?
October 7, 2009 at 5:56 pm

by Zac MacDonald

Cost Per Action marketing is one of the simplest methods for beginner Internet marketers to begin making money online. For years, this type of affiliate marketing has been an industry secret of the insider “big players. It was never really a secret, but while most people in Internet marketing had their hands busy promoting Clickbank products, the big kahunas were playing on a whole different level.

“CPA” or Cost Per Action is the type of internet marketing you see in place When a consumer fills out a form, requests a free product sample or signs up for a free trial. Sometimes it may also involve asking the consumer to try a new product or service by making a small purchase or paying a shipping fee. These are the actions required of the traffic you steer to advertisers, for you, the offer promoter, to be paid.

What it means is that you, as offer promoter, get paid for the “actions” taken by the traffic you steer to advertisers. As a basic example, let’s say a company wants to test the consumer feedback on a new product line that they are introducing. They create an offer where they agree to pay $1.50 for each person who submits their e-mail address and zip code ” your job is simply to direct traffic to that site and then collect $1.50 for each person who opts in.

This is a typical type of promotion, the actions required are simple and the dollars soon add up. Others might pay as much as $40 for an opt in however the higher the payout, the more information that needs to be collected and possibly even a small upfront payment. This takes a bit more effort.

Basically, you as a CPA marketer are a traffic broker: On your end, you buy the traffic and send it to the offer page at the advertisers end and get paid based on how well it converts. Despite the fact that it sounds so simple, and it can be easy, it often isn’t for many beginners.

You see, because of it’s high profitability, CPA marketing is also highly competitive, especially for the beginner. Competing with other affiliates making $500-$1000 a day, right through to super affiliates making up to $100k a day, can be challenging when you’re just trying to get started and unfortunately many beginners get frustrated and give up when they realise this type of marketing can be difficult and expensive. CPA marketing, done right can be and is, all that the sales letters say it can be. You can make those big dollars if you know what you’re doing you just need to do your homework first if you want to succeed with this type of internet marketing.

Web Design For Search Engines
October 7, 2009 at 5:45 pm

by Alex McMillan Boyle

When you assign the building of a website to a designer, the main focus for most people is the aesthetic design. Everyone wants a great looking site with professional looking graphics, but quite often this comes at the expense of functionality.

Your website should be a 24/7 working salesperson for your company, bringing in new business round the clock so that every time you check your inbox you should have new enquiries from leads sitting in there that are waiting to be turned into sales.

The purpose of each website will of course vary depending on what your business is. A website can be used to collect contact details of potential customers for contact at a later date, it could be used to generate enquiries for you to answer with a quote, or it can sell your products automatically, either way, the point is your website must have a purpose!!

Once a purpose for your site has been established, you should look into placing calls to action on each of your pages, i.e. once the visitor has read the content on a page, there should be a clear and simple way for them to take action with having to navigate through more pages to find out how to ask for a quote. Your content should have the following structure, first it should identify the problem that your business solves, explain how you can solve it, and provide an easy way for the reader to take action.

Once your site is set up in this way and its all set to work like a proper sales funnel, it is then time to try and bring in some traffic. This is where many web designers fail as many dont realise that some functions of a site, like having lots of Flash animations or using a content management system is likely to hinder the sites progress in the search engine rankings.

The best way to ensure your site will be search engine friendly is to consult a professional SEO company before you entrust the design of your site to anyone. Having an SEO expert working with (or even as) your web designer will be massively beneficial in the run as if the web designer is left to do it on his own, then the chances are that the site will not be all that search engine friendly, and whats the point in having a flashy looking website if nobody will ever find it?

Send Your Greetings Through Internet
October 7, 2009 at 4:59 pm

by Anne Lee

Can you think of any good way to show your regard to someone else? The Chinese and Egyptians thought of a great idea – sending greeting cards. This idea is also used to celebrate holidays like Christmas. However, it was a luxurious practice as greeting cards were handmade and costly.

With the invention of commercial printing and the advancement of postal services, greeting cards started to become more popular in the 1850s.

Birthday cards are perhaps the most popular type of cards to be sent, but there are other types of greeting cards that are just as popular as well. Greeting card manufacturers like Hallmark and American Greetings produce cards for a lot of different occasions, such as graduation, wedding, new-born baby, etc. With this huge selection, you can always find the card that you want very easily.

Besides those ready-made cards, DIY cards are another options as well. With the increasing popularity of stores that sell craft supplies, it is very easy and convenient to find the required materials to make your own cards.

You can express your greetings in your handmade cards in many different ways by choosing different styles and themes of card-making supplies. No matter which style or theme you choose, your unique greetings can be shown on the card.

With the Internet, sending a birthday wish to someone has become a much easier task. Just go on the Internet and you will be amazed by the huge number of websites that provide electronic greeting services.

These greeting cards are with different styles, types and attitudes. Such as, sweet, snappy, interesting and sneering. Of course there are certainly more choices available.

Online greeting cards is a kind of big business now. While some websites are offering greeting cards for free, others are charging for this service. For those websites which provide free greeting cards, they may include their advertisements on the cards. You may even be required to be a member of the website before getting better e-cards.

A Small Collection Of Quality Movie Reviews To See
October 7, 2009 at 4:58 pm

by Alyce Herman

For years now, the video store was the way to get movies. The next generation it seems will be getting their movies from movie downloads, avoiding any trips to the store. You will find just about any movie you want with a good movie download site. Below is a small sample.

Wedding Crashers: John and Jeremy have found out a great way to pick up women, by crashing weddings. John breaks wedding crasher rules, and falls in love with Claire. This severe change will test the strength of John and Jeremy’s longtime friendship.

Dracula’s Daughter: Continuation to the Lugosi classic portrays vampire exercises of Holden. Pichel adds implementing aid as her malevolent manservant. Hillyer, usually a B-Western director, manages to imbue this chiller with a moody, subtly sensual quality. Cast includes Cast includes Gloria Holden, Otto Kruger, Marguerite Churchill, Irving Pichel, Edward Van Sloan, Nan Grey, and Hedda Basket. (70 minutes, 1936)

I Want to Go Home: Lyrical author-actor Green plays a compulsive American cartoonist who voyages to Paris for an art show and to see his alienated daughter Benson. Depardieu, an exuberant admirer, brings him to his mom’s country home for the weekend. Written by Jules Feiffer, with a score by John Kander, this Franco-American curio is appallingly poor. Cast includes Adolph Green, Gerard Depardieu, Linda Lavin, Laura Benson, Micheline Presle, and Ludivine Sagnier. (101 minutes, 1989)

Navy Seals: Navy Seals go into the Mid-East to rescue captured US pilots. During this successful rescue, the Seals observe that the enemy terrorist have Stinger missiles in their possession. With no time to destroy the missiles, they leave them behind and complete the rescue mission. We need to recover these weapons before terrorists have the chance to use them.

A Cry in The Dark: The amazing true tale of Lindy Chamberlain, an Australian female implicated of killing her infant, in spite of her claims that the youngster was taken by a dingo (a wild Australian dog). Author-director Schepisi informs his tale with nearly documentary like actuality, eloquently assaulting the format of trial by story that made Chamberlain and her spouse the most maligned couple in Australia. Streep and Neill are heartbreakingly excellent. Cast includes Meryl Streep, Sam Neill, Bruce Myles, Charles Tingwell, Notch Tate, and Lewis Fitzgerald. (121 minutes, 1988)

Jurassic Park: Billionaire Attenborough asks paleontologists Dem and Neill, and mathematician Goldblum to examine his island entertainment park, populated with living dinosaurs. He even has his grandchildren tag along, peacefully skeptical that anything might go awry. It won three Oscars, for Graphic Outcomes, Noise, and Noise Outcomes Revising. Cast includes Sam Neill, Laura Dem, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Bob Poke, Ariana Richards, Samuel L. Jackson, and Wayne Horseman. (126 minutes, 1993)

The Good Shepherd: Clutching tale of a spiritually censored youthful guy who is enlisted at Yale to do espionage work throughout WW2 and then to join the secret intelligence agency that would eventually become the CIA, even though it means an astronomical sacrifice to his family life. Damon is phenomenal and a well selected cast fills all the roles very well. Cast includes Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie, Alec Baldwin, Tammy Blanchard, Billy Crudup, Robert De Niro, and John Turturro. (167 minutes, 2006)

Diner: Complications of growing up are pleasantly harmonized by author-director Levinson in this look at a group of buddies who hang out in a Baltimore diner in the 1950s. Evidently made with care and attention to detail; a genuine sleeper. (97 minutes, 1961)

Sex, Lies And Video Tape: Anne and John are married, but John is having an affair with Anne’s sister Cynthia. When an old friend of theirs, Graham, shows up, everything changes. John likes to videotape interviews, especially with women.

Remember, be creative and use phrases like “Download DVD Movie”. Try a new phrase if that one did not work. Try something different, like “Movie File Sharing”.

Convert MP3 to iPhone: Your Personal Tutorial
October 7, 2009 at 4:53 pm

by John Mino

Having a new ringtone on your phone is fun; everyone loves getting them, and that includes iPhone users. Anyone can download a ringtone, for a price or free of charge, and iTunes downloads can be converted to ringtones for the cost of the tune plus $.99. What do you do if you want to take your own music and create ringtones? Can you have a ringtone that’s more than 30 seconds long? What if the song you want to use is an eighties golden oldie? Or a new song is out by an artist you love, but no ringtone is currently available, and you really want it now?

If any of these excitable states apply to you, then you might want to consider the Mp3 to ringtone conversion software. Of course, there are a host of such conversion products available on the internet. Try searching for “mp3 ringtone converter.” You’ll be presented with innumerable options.

Don’t jump to purchase or download any software before checking out the credibility of the company that makes them, or the user reviews posted for them. Often, you’ll find that many or not as promising as they appear. More than that, many such software could contain viruses or trojans that get embedded into your ringtones when you convert your mp3s, and then gather private data about your phone and other users in your contacts.

There was also the problem with moving ringtones for iPhone users. iFuntastic was an awesome program for the Mac. Not only could you use it to install ringtones, but also third-party applications, wallpapers, and much more by jailbreaking the iPhone. (’Jailbreaking’ is a term referring to the process of allowing your computer to access the iPhone’s file system.)

It was very easy to upload ringtones to an iPhone with iFuntastic. Unless people using Windows could do some major hacking, however, they were left out.

Since the release of the new iTunes 7.4, it’s a different story, though. It doesn’t matter what operating system you have on your computer; you can upload and sync ringtones on an iPhone easily with iTunes 7.4.

By using the .m4r file extension, iTunes will read the file as a ringtone. All you need to do to convert a track in your library to a ringtone is to change the file extension.

First, you import an mp3 file and convert it to ACC on iTunes. That ACC file is taken from your music library, the extension is changed to .m4r (from .m4a), and the file is re-added to your music library. Instead of sounding like a regular library track, iTunes plays it as a ringtone. It’s now ready to be synced to an iPhone. Does it get any simpler?

A Couple Of Brief Film Outlines To Go Over
October 7, 2009 at 4:37 pm

by Raymond Jordan

Until recently, if you wanted to watch a movie, a trip to a video store like blockbuster was your only option. As technologies have advanced, downloading dvds off movie download sites is becoming very common. Following is a list of a few movies that you can get using a movie download site.

The Ploughman’s Lunch: Difficult, skeptical condemnation of British behaviors, ethics and affairs of state, focusing on the exercises of completely selfish journalist (Pryce) and others throughout the Falklands battle. The film is relatively perceptive, within the restraints of its outlook. Cast includes Jonathan Pryce, Tim Curry, Rosemary Harris, Blunt Finlay, and Charlie Dore. (100 minutes, 1983)

Blind Date: Dr. Dullea tests a device that inspires visions on the blind Bottoms, inducing him to become addicted to seizing a psycho murderer who’s on the loose. Powerful cast perks up a contrived thriller, filmed in Greece. Cast includes Joseph Bottoms, Kirstie Alley, James Daughton, Lana Clarkson, and Keir Dullea. (100 minutes, 1984)

South Park: Bigger, Longer And Uncut: Our dynamic four are in top form in the first feature length film of the TV series. There is a new movie at the theater, a Terrence and Phillips film, and the boys are off to see it. When they arrive at the theater they can’t get in because of the R rating. They overcome this obstacle by paying off a street drunk to get the tickets for them. This is the boy’s first real intense introduction to foul language. They leave the movie fully trained in the new words, and use them whenever they can. This leads to outrage from the parents. Since Terrence and Phillip are Canadian, this ends with the US and Canada going to war.

Black Mask: Biologically machinated warrior Li gives up a peaceful life to battle his comparably improved former colleagues, who are trying to take over the Hong Kong rackets. Clever, fashionable, lightning paced thriller is a superlative showcase for the illuminating abilities of Li who, in his camouflage, looks like the Green Hornet’s Kato. High Quality Websites Are Important For Businesses
October 7, 2009 at 4:32 pm

by Chris Marks

It is a fact that websites have evolved and they are now attractive as never before. Websites are viewed as a work of art by people who visit them and good designs also help the webmaster to meet their personal goals that they have set up for the particular website. There are many who just design websites so that they get noticed and they just like to share information with people who have like interests, which is also why there are uncountable high quality websites online.

Websites for business need a more professional and serious design, though. However, that does not mean that all professional looking sites are also high quality ones and there are even business owners who don’t see the value of a good website or how it can help a business to grow. The following four reasons will clearly show why every business should put a focus on improving the quality of their website in regards to its functionality and design.

Impress Visitors Right from the Start

There is a huge difference in reaction between a visitor that checks out a standard website and a visitor that checks out a really nice website. It could be a facial reaction or possibly an exciting reaction that encourages the visitor to check out more areas of the site and read the finer details. Making that first impression is just as important as looking good for your next meeting because you want to generate a good first impression with the people that you are entertaining. With a high quality website, it is your business that is represented here.

Encourages your Visitors to Visit Again

A first impression has more benefits than you would at first think, because it will in the long run increase the chances of visitors coming back again and that is a great way of increasing the daily traffic to your website. All of the commonly used internet browsers have a bookmark feature and if the website does leave a good first impression, then the visitor will also most likely use that function within a few seconds so that they don’t lose the site. This gives you a valuable chance to frequently update your site and keeping visitors interested in new content will only ensure that they keep coming back.

Gives you a Competitive Advantage

Think about how your competitors are doing with their websites. There are definitely other high quality websites around the net and possibly even more sites constantly refining their designs and content. Once you gain the competitive advantage, your site will only get more popular and possibly indexed at higher ranks which is good for new people to discover your site.

Functions Independently

Being able to create a high quality website is something that will require a lot of effort being put into it and also dedication, but once you have the majority of the work done and are happy with the outcome, then the site will basically function without any more help. However, visitors will continue to be impressed and as a webmaster you only need to ensure that it is regularly updated and won’t lose its appeal.

It doesn’t matter if your business is already successful or not, you are still better off setting up a high quality website. This is because your online presence is what people will use to judge your business and if you can get them to take a closer look through your contents, then that is good for you.

Solid Ink Is Easy To Find On The Net, But Make Sure You Do Some Research First.
October 7, 2009 at 4:16 pm

by Kai E Potts

It’s always a bit pain in the neck when you run out of printer ink and it can be a lot worse for people who use solid ink for their printers. This type of ink isn’t as easy to find as ink cartridges but you can find a huge range of options on the web. You will, however, need to do some research in order to find the best deals on the web and this requires setting aside some time.

Buying online, no matter what you’re looking for, is really simple. You just need to remember how important research is. If you set aside the time (a couple of hours) and make sure that you’re aware of everything available on today’s market, then you should have no problems finding deals that are appropriate for your needs.

Most of the time, solid ink is used in business based printers such as those used in an office or shop. You will need to remember that this type of ink is usually more expensive but there are still some incredible deals to be found online. You just need to take your time and do your research properly.

Grab a pen and paper and head over to Google. You will then be able to see all the online stores that stock what you’re looking for. This is a perfect place to start your research and if you keep track of your progress by making notes while you browse the web, you should find it really easy to get what you need at the price you can afford.

Just remember not to rush into anything. You don’t want to buy the first thing you see and then see it elsewhere for a lower price. Also, you shouldn’t always opt for the cheapest products because this can sometimes mean a lack of quality and that is certainly something you want to avoid.

Overall, buying solid ink on the web is really easy as long as you do some research. Make sure that you set aside some time so that you can concentrate on finding the best possible deals. Don’t rush into anything and most importantly – take your time!

Assortment Of Web Games To Play
October 7, 2009 at 4:07 pm

by Jesus Hunter

If an individual is interested in finding a a game to play online there is such a giant choice of games to play online. They can be found on some of the websites, and they may be free or they may charge a fee. The complimentary games can be just as compelling as those paid for. Some are complimentary trials to check if someone likes the game before purchasing.

A very superior website to stumble on enjoyable games is Yahoo. They have quite a big variety of games which include free of charge ones. They can also be bought for a free trial, or they may be bought to download. The quality of free games is still good and still engaging. Examples of their games are Bejeweled and Bookworm. Some other games incorporate common board games like Monopoly and Yahtzee. Jeopardy! a game show has been made into an Internet game.

Some other services present free entertaining games such as Sudoku or crossword puzzles. The crossword puzzles can give you hints and the ultimate answers. Another website proffers something comparable where backgammon can be played.

Another means to play games online is to find services which will charge a small fee to go into their services. Your payment will pay for tokens to play diverse games. Tokens areused up on a game, and points are earned while playing. Relying on the points earned, prizes can be won. An illustration of these games is playing a slot machine game.

Another comparable site that needs the person to pay a small fee are card playing websites. These can be compared to placing bets. You would put $5 or $10, and this amount can be used to enter a game at whatever price desired. For instance there may be $0. 25 solitaire games. There are also rummy, poker, and other games. These games are played by a number of players on the web, and it is like playing at a casino in your home.

Depending on the game being played, a person can end up spending money to win money. However, there are more rational websites which are at no cost or have a insignificant fee.

What the player selects is dependent on the games they like to play. Most like to sit and enjoy a game on their own more as a kind of leisure. Others might like the competitive nature and want to be part of an online system. Some want to continue that adventure and want to make it into an activity where they can strive to win some cash.

Each of these websites are reputable services, and they provide good entertainment. A lot of of these games have improved as far as their graphic design such as Bejeweled. It can be obtained for free, however, the upgraded edition which requires a small cost has extra special effects. Millions of individuals take pleasure in playing Internet games, and there is such a huge choice to choose from.

Working With HTML text In Adobe Dreamweaver
October 7, 2009 at 4:06 pm

by Harry James

Given that Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 is a web development tool, the text it allows you to create is HTML text and HTML handles text in a different way to print-oriented environments such as word processors and DTP packages. Although adding text to your web pages feels kind of similar to working in any text editor, you will sometimes find a few quirks in the way that Dreamweaver handles text.

Firstly, there is the question of structure. Browsers assign a structural importance to text based on the HTML element which contains them. Text inside a heading element, such as h1 or h2, is given more prominence than text contained within a paragraph element. Dreamweaver uses the paragraph element as the default container for text; so, if you create a blank page in Dreamweaver and type some text, as soon as you press Return, your text will be placed inside a paragraph element.

The same thing normally happens when you paste text from another environment. Dreamweaver will recognise returns and use them to split the text into paragraphs. It will also attempt to translate any formatting to its nearest HTML equivalent. Thus, if you copy some data from an Excel spreadsheet and paste it into an HTML page in Dreamweaver, you will end up with a table containing the Excel data. Similarly, if text from Word which has been formatted using Word styles such as “Heading 1″, “Heading 2″ and “Normal”, Word will place all “Heading 1″ text inside h1 elements, “Heading 2″ text inside h2 and “Normal” text inside paragraph elements.

As they edit their text in Dreamweaver, users who are unfamiliar with HTML may be occasionally confused by the fact that Dreamweaver treats text as a separate entity to the element that contains it. Thus for example, in design view, if you triple-click on a heading to select it, what Dreamweaver actually selects is the text inside the heading. The heading element itself is not selected. Once users are familiar with HTML, this behaviour becomes less confusion.

Dreamweaver’s tag selector feature is a great way of keeping tabs on the HTML elements you are generating and manipulating while working in Design view. The tag selector is the area on the left of the status bar at the bottom of the document window. It displays the tags representing the element which contains the currently highlighted item. These tags can also be used to select an element and its contents. Thus, to select a heading, ignore the text and just click on the tag representing the element which encloses it.

Another piece of advice I often give to newbie Dreamweaver users is to stay away from split screen view. This is where code and design views are each allocated half of the screen. Unless you creating something fairly intricate, like a complex form, split view is a bit wasteful. Just looking at the tag selector is usually enough to let you know what HTML elements you are working with.

Ethiopian Coffee Yirgacheffe
October 7, 2009 at 3:56 pm

by Doc Ethio

The coffee ceremony in Ethiopia is an important part of their social life and cultural life. Whenever you are invited by an Ethiopian to his/her traditional coffee ceremony, it means you have been accepted as a friend and you have also earned their respect. It is an excellent example of their hospitality.

For Ethiopians, performing a coffee ceremony is almost obligatory in the presence of a guest or a visitor, whatever the time of day. If you are in a hurry, the Ethiopian coffee ceremony is not for you, as this special ceremony can take a few hours.

Their homage to coffee is sometimes ornate, and always beautifully ceremonial. The ceremony is usually conducted by one young woman wearing her traditional Ethiopian clothing of a white dress, with woven borders made up myriads of spectacular colors.

The extended Ethiopian coffee ceremony starts with the ceremonial equipments being arranged upon a bed of long scented grasses. After that, the coffee is roasted on a level roaster above a small charcoal furnace, the aromatic smell blending with the heady scent of incense that is also customarily burned during the Ethiopian coffee tradition.

Next, the woman who is in charge of the coffee ceremony carefully washes the handful of coffee beans on the heated furnace, then stirs and shakes the remains away. Once the coffee beans have turned black and shining and the aromatic oil is coaxed out of them, they are ground by a pestle and a long handled mortar.

The ground coffee is slowly stirred into the black clay coffee pot locally known as ‘jebena’, which is round at the bottom with a straw lid.

Due to the archaic method used by Ethiopians, the ground result can be called anything but even, so the coffee is strained through a fine sieve several times.

As the coffee gets ready to be served, the youngest individual is picked to announce the start of the coffee ritual. At which time, the very person (usually) will stand by prepared to hand over the coffees being poured in the small china cups, by the woman in charge. The first cup is, almost all the time, served to the eldest person in the room, with the youngest being the last.

The lady finally serves the coffee in tiny china cups to her family, friends and neighbours who have waited and watched the procedure for the past half-hour. Gracefully pouring a thin golden stream of coffee into each little cup from a height of one foot without an interruption requires years of practice.

Laptop Computers–Batteries
October 7, 2009 at 12:30 pm

by Blythe Ruzarrio

One of the biggest complaints against laptop computers today is battery life. In the beginning, laptop batteries didnt keep the system up and running for very long. Battery life has been extended with new technologies, but like microwaves just not heating fast enough; we still want computer laptop batteries to last longer.

NiCad (Nickel Cadmium) is the oldest battery technology and is used rarely today. NiCad batteries are heavier than the newer batteries currently available. NiCad is not good for the environment (green) as it contains heavy metals. Most laptop computer manufacturers have stopped producing batteries of this type. NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) are less likely to be prone to the memory effect (where batteries gradually lose their maximum capacity) and have a better power to weight ratio than NiCad. These batteries are also being phased out by many manufacturers. However, many have lithium-ion versions that are compatible. Li-Ion (Lithium Ion) is becoming the dominant type of battery because it has an excellent power to weight ratio. This is really important because no one wants a heavy laptop to carry around. Another positive for Li-Ion is that it doesn’t suffer from the memory effect at all. These batteries do tend to lose charge quickly towards the end of their effective life span. If this happens the battery should be replaced.

Laptop batteries are rated by voltage (V) and milliamp-hours (mAh). Voltage is the rate at which energy is drawn from the battery. Milliamp-hours represents the capacity of the battery. The milliamp-hour rating corresponds to the run time of the battery. A battery with a high Milliamp-hour rating has a relatively longer run time than a battery with a low milliamp-hour rating.

Batteries with different milliamp-hours can be used on a laptop provided the voltage rating is the same. The voltage rating has to match that of the original. Using a battery with a different voltage setting can seriously damage the laptop. The power ratings of most compatible/replacement batteries are higher than the original manufacturers’ batteries. This will not damage your laptop but simply means that these last longer than original manufacturers’ batteries.

The run time of a laptop battery will vary on individual notebook computers, based on the applications being used. Different uses like graphic games, the number of times something is saved or retrieved from the hard drive and/or CD Rom drive, the memory of notebook, and chemistry and capacity of the battery. A realistic average run-time for a battery is 1.5 to 3 hours. Using devices like a wireless adapter on the laptop also drains the battery considerably. The life of a battery under normal use is around 500 to 900 charge-discharge cycles. This is about one and a half to three years of battery life for the average user. As the rechargeable battery begins to fail, the running time of the battery begins to decline.

Cordless Panasonic Phones
October 7, 2009 at 12:24 pm

by Peter Owen

A brand of phones that has always produced very good products is Panasonic and cordless Panasonic phones are no exception to this rule. Though giving them a decent name is one thing Panasonic is not very good at. The Panasonic KX-TG6421ES for example and the Panasonic KX-TG6481ET cordless phone are two of these terrible attempts.

However these Panasonic cordless phones are very good once you get past the numbers and letters. Two models start the range but one has an answering machine with a very similar one that does not. These are the and the Panasonic Cordless Phone KX-TG6411ET and thePanasonic Cordless Phone KX-TG6421ES with Answering Machine

Next in the Panasonic cordless phone range is a handset that is extremely robust and hard wearing. Not that the normal handsets are weak but this particular one has been made extra tough. In fact this particular Panasonic cordless phone is so tough it has been given an IP rating of IP54. The name of this phone is the Panasonic KX-TG6481ET Cordless Phone

With a corded and cordless telephone the next model in the Panasonic cordless phone range is very unique. The corded main phone plugs into the telephone line and the walk around handset working separately. The user can then keep the corded phone on the desk and also means the cordless in another room. This is called the KX-TG6461ET Cordless Phone

Finally the top of the range model in the Panasonic range has a colour screen as well as an answering machine. Also this particular model has other features such as an extra large phone book. Panasonic call this model the anasonic KX-TG8421EB

Making things more complicated Panasonic also have multi pack of the above available which has different names. To make it simpler just work out which cordless phone you want first and then how many handsets extra you want.

VoIP-The Latest In Securing Your Business Conversations
October 7, 2009 at 12:23 pm

by Graham McKenzie

As any businessman knows, the ability to store data in his office is very important. It is vital to keep this data secure as it contains confidential information and the policies of the business. If business data gets into the wrong hands, it could cause immeasurable damage to the business including complete collapse.

As is evident, securing all data is integral to the success of a business. Since computers are almost ubiquitous in the all business today being used on a daily basis to produce and store data, measures must be taken to maintain the security of the data is crucial. These measures could include antivirus, anti-spyware, and malware.

Since the telephone is also used for business purposes, the security of the business telephone system is important so that information will not be accessed by the outsiders. A VoIP telephone system uses the newest technology available today and can help improve your business as well as help you to increase profits. The VoIP telephone has many features that other telephones do not offer. Some of these are lower long distance calling rates, call-waiting, audio and video conferencing, text messaging and three-way calling. VoIP offers these services at a much lower rate than other telephone services and they also offer technology to protect your valuable data.

Because of the advantages that VoIP provides, attuned businesses are leaving conventional phones behind and adopting VoIP. VoIP can provide these features and beneficial cost savings because it uses the internet as its communication backbone and this allows for free data transfers. The transference of audio signals via VoIP uses the same data transfer principles as computers. VoIP moves audio through the internet and converts the audio signal from an analog signal to digital data, improving quality and clarity.

The sound quality is seen to be better than regular telephones, as the sound from the sender is first converted into digital signals over the internet, instead of analog signals in normal telephones. These digital signals can carry additional features of a sound, like the crispness and the clarity of the sound, for a longer distance. This makes the experience on the VoIP phones better than regular phones, when making long distance calls. VoIP is being complemented by the recent advances in wireless technology. The best advance is the Wi-Fi that can help a user make wireless VoIP calls through Wi-Fi phones, instead of hooking up to computer to make and receive the VoIP calls, which can be tiresome.

Innovations in wireless technology with VoIP phones have alleviated the necessity to hook-up the phone directly to the computer to receive or make calls. Security is still an issue with VoIP phones. People using wireless VoIP phones must take precautions to maintain secure communications.Users of wireless VoIP phones should employ programs that allow for secure communication. Using data security on these phones may require users to input approved credentials. Newer Wi-Fi phones have integrated privacy measures directly on the phones to allow for protected calls.

When businesses are considering VoIP Wi-Fi phones, they should consider phones which employ privacy features and encryption technology. While the cost of these type phones may be higher, the added advantage of having protected communication is well worth the benefit. Safe and secure information is crucial to the success of any business. Putting safeguards in place to protect data and communication is an essential way to stay safe and maintain a healthy business.

Top 6 Items to Building a Search Engine Optimized Website
October 7, 2009 at 12:16 pm

by Justin Robert

1) WHO IS YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE? SEO is useless if you do not have a clear plan on who you want to bring to your site. Thinking you site is for EVERYONE would be pretty outlandish, unless you are looking to replace Wikipedia or Google. You must really drill down and figure out details on the niche of your target audience before moving any further. There are plenty of general marketing resources to help with this, please use them.

2) WHAT SUBJECT WILL YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE WILL FIND USEFUL TO READ? Search Engine Optimization is about providing the information your target audience wants on the website. It is not a bunch of tricks trying to get visitors to the site. The MOST IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION in the planning phase is establishing a plan to develop all of the content that will meet the target audiences need.

3) HOW WILL YOU INCORPORATE THE CONTENT ON THE SITE TO MEET THE AUDIENCES NEEDS? Developing the content is not the same as the layout of the site, but once someone is at the site, it is very important to make sure they can easily find the other information they need. This means it should be easy to get from some content to some other content, products, etc. A plan on how to move a site visitor from some part of the site to another part of the website, allowing the user to interact with the site is essential. This strategy should include a degree of flexibility as not all visitors will land on the home page (especially true of a site with good Search Engine Optimization). Not all visitors will want to go from page 1 to page 2 to page 3, they will want to find their own path to the content most important to them.

4) HOW WILL YOU UPDATE THE WEBSITE? Regular updates could be a very critical component to long term SEO, depending on the competition. Whether you plan to hire resources or do it yourself, it is essential to have a plan up front, prior to developing the website. Waiting to figure out that strategy until AFTER the site is created could be a DISASTER. If a single developer hand coded each page, it could be a very big undertaking to update that site, while a Content Management System (CMS) could be much easier for an individual to add new content. (Note: while not directly related to SEO, it could be a solid marketing strategy to capture willful visitors email addresses on the website then email them when updated information is posted on the site. If you intend to employ this strategy it could have a significant impact on the method used to develop the site as it will need a component to handle this.)

5) HOW WILL YOU ENSURE GOOD CODE THAT IS EASILY INDEXED BY THE SEARCH ENGINES? This is not about fancy tricks, it is about avoiding unnecessary items on the site that do not help SEO (such as flash, etc). It is VERY IMPORTANT to make sure your site developer understands proper SEO design techniques and if not, hire a consultant to ensure these are “built in” to the site. Many people build a site first using a creative designer to capture the “vision”, thinking optimization can happen later. Unfortunately, the strategy of “SEO Later” could involve “redesigning the site” because much of the fixes could require cleaning up of code. The number of people qualified to build a Search Engine Optimized website from scratch if far less than the number of people that can just give you a fancy website.

6) HOW WILL YOU GET LINKS? Since link building will eventually be a necessary component of the Search Engine Optimization strategy, you must also consider who might want to link to your site and how the site can be built in a way that would help facilitate this process. Consider who you would freely link to from your brand new website. Would you link to a website that has moving advertisements all over the homepage or pushes a product while providing no real valuable information? What type of content would a different website need to provide to deem it useful to link to them? Other webmasters will not be lining up to link to your site unless you give them a compelling reason to do so. Bar Code Technology – Saving Time and Money
October 7, 2009 at 11:55 am

by Amy Nutt

For those who are not familiar with bar codes, they are a series of black lines and spaces or various widths that stand for numbers and /or letters, and punctuation symbols. The codes are found on most items produced today to uniquely identify items with a scanner. The scanner reflects light off the code and in turn reads the information, translates the code into numbers and letters that get processed and read by the computer.

Bar codes, or UPCs (Universal Product Codes) were first used in 1974 and the first item scanned was a package of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit gum (10 pack), which has since been put on display at the Smithsonian. At that point in time, it was projected that there would be a savings to producers of good, of just under $1.5 billion but it turns out that the estimate was incorrect and the actual savings is an impressive $17 billion a year.

Benefits of Bar Coding

There are several reasons for using bar codes which prove there usefulness:

- Collection of data quickly – in fact a scanner can record the information and enter it up to seven times faster than a skilled typist doing the work manually. The accuracy is also much improved – up to 10, 000 times better. It is estimated that bar codes make 1 error for every 3 million scan made as opposed to manual errors averaging in at 1 in every 300

- Scanning also reduces labor costs, relieving workers from manual data entry. It helps to keep better records of inventory and sales and saves time again for the worker searching inventory physically in order to find stock.

- Access to information is increased as well as increased access to details about inventory and products. This helps with decision making when ordering and restocking items which would otherwise involve making long tedious lists. It helps by keeping a tighter hold on inventory control thus helping to eliminate duplicate orders or overstocking of items.

Ways that Bar Codes are used:

Bar codes can be used for more than just flagging prices and inventory for groceries and items purchased everyday by millions of consumers. For example:

- The most common is the point-of-sale, where the items we purchase as consumers are scanned at the cash register. This saves on labor costs.

- Bar codes can be used for manufacturing industries to track the progress of the stages of work being done on a project. It can keep detailed information on how much product is being used at each step of the manufacturing process.

- Inventory can be easily controlled by the scanning process. Tracking goods that are being shipped or received is quick work using UPCs compared to doing it manually. Data can be uploaded from a handheld scanner into a company’s main computer at regular intervals (commonly referred to as Batch). It also drastically reduces time and effort when conducting annual inventory controls and counts, keeping time consumption low and costs down.

- Coding is also now used for security practices, providing bar coded tags to grant access to employees into their designated areas of work. In addition to granting access, many of these ID Tags are also used to keep track of employee time sheets and payroll.

- In the case of packaging, bar code printers produce a sticker to help identify parts and serial number for shipping goods. This helps in shipping and enhances the ability to track shipped items.

- Offices such as medical and dental can use bar coding as a means to keep complex patient records sorted more easily. By coding the boxes on forms filled out by the patient or doctor sorting through that information or compiling similar information for reports makes this chore a simple and quicker one. The result is better and faster patient service.

The introduction of UPCs has changed how companies handle time, money, and makes them cost effective and more efficient.

Simple Alternatives To Listen To Tunes From Your PSP Center
October 7, 2009 at 7:52 am

by Frances I Parker

Many individuals may be unaware of the many functionalities of a PSP console, or portable gaming device. Not only do they allow for many hours of gaming fun, but they also allow for music, movies, and pictures to be downloaded for pleasure, in addition to allowing for read-through of emails. The device is extremely practical, straightforward to take a trip with and reasonably priced. Downloading music to the device is very uncomplicated and can be finished in a couple of minutes. There are even options to download music for nominal fees.

The first step in transferring music from a computer to a PSP device is to attach the USB cord connecting the two. Then press the home button on the PSP device. The process may be different some with the diverse windows versions, but should be pretty much the same. The computer will most often distinguish the new connection and will consequentially commence the procedure of identifying a different drive for the PSP device.

Utilize the up and down arrows on the console to find the USB connection. Once it is discovered, press the X button to select the connection. After the PC has discovered the new connection there will be a new drive produced on your computer, identified by its own letter such as J or K, probably will not be C or D. Once you have the drive created you are all set to download your tunes to the PSP.

Only MP3 files can be played on the PSP center. Music can be uploaded from a D, downloaded from the computer or the Internet. If the file you wish to download is not in MP3 format there are image converters obtainable to convert a file to the correct format. There is music presented all over the Internet for a minimal fee. Various websites provide unlimited downloads for a monthly fee with no commitment.

Discover the drive that was developed for the PSP device. Open the drive and right click and pick out “create a new folder”. Title the folder music or whatever you would prefer. This is where the music can be saved.

When music is previously downloaded to a computer, the files will need to be duplicated from their existing location and pasted into the music folder, or whatever you decided to designate your folder on the recently created drive, for the PSP device. Consider that only MP3 files can be duplicated to the game console.

When downloading music from the Internet, my suggestion would be to save the music to start with to your computer and then copy the files onto the PSP device. This way the music will be saved in both places and the computer files can be used as a back up if something fails with PSP download. If selecting music from the Internet, download the files from your preferred site. Many times the downloading software asks for where the files should be saved. Navigate to a folder to save the files on the computer. Once all of the songs or files are downloaded from the Internet, navigate to the folder where the files were saved on the computer and copy those to the PSP device drive. If wanting to reassign music from a CD, you would need to use a CD ripper software to transport the files from the Compact disc to the computer or PSP device.

Once the downloading process is complete, before unplugging the device from the computer, make sure to press the o button on the game console. Then you can unplug the USB cord from the computer and game console. You are all set to listen to your music

The process of downloading music for entertainment through your gaming console is very simple. Look around the web and find your songs and start listening to your music through your PSP device today.

Finding The Right Address Verification Software
October 7, 2009 at 7:50 am

by John Davis

If your business depends on a reliable direct mailing service to customers and potential customers, then you already know how important it is to get an address into the system correctly the first time. Without taking the time to make sure address verification is done correctly, you could end up with piles of undelivered or returned mail, which could end up costing you a surprising amount of money.

When put in perspective, that can add up to significant losses for your business, possibly putting the company’s viability and reputation on the line. That alone is a substantial argument for the importance of reviewing and implementing an address verification software program for your business.

There is software available designed to help with address verification. By ensuring direct mail campaigns reach their intended recipients, business sales will improve because more and more targeted customers will be reached.

Did you know that some estimates put the number of incorrectly addressed mail at almost 25 percent? This includes all outgoing mail in the form of fliers, newsletters, postcards, brochures and more. This can result in huge losses in potential sales for a company. Not to mention the added costs and time spent trying to correct addresses and handling all returned mail.

However, by ensuring that your customer’s addresses get inputted correctly and accurately the first time – and on the front end of data entry – via an address verification system, you are taking important steps to keep your sales numbers on track. You will also be increasing the overall efficiency of your employees and their work schedules.

One of the major problems with address verification in the past is that it happened on the back end of data entry. Most mail got sent and then returned before companies were even aware there was a problem. Costly errors can be avoided if addresses are verified on the front end by making sure that data is correctly entered into the system.

Over time taking these measures will save a company time, effort and money. The initial cost can be high to install an address verification system, but in the long run it will be worth it. Companies should look at the big picture and invest in a quality system.

With so many different address verification software packages available it is wise to do your research and find the right system for your business and its individual needs. Right away you will see an increase in your ROI.

About the Author:
An address verification procedure can save your business thousands of dollars in undeliverable mail fees. You can also use it for email address validation and save additional time and money when corresponding with your customers.

Programming Courses Around The UK – Update
October 7, 2009 at 6:05 am

by Jason Kendall

What are the sort of things you’d expect the best training organisations accredited by Microsoft to offer a client in Britain in this day and age? Clearly, the most supreme Gold Partner training tracks certified by Microsoft, presenting a range of options to lead you to a variety of careers in the IT workplace.

Maybe you’d choose to talk about career options with a person who’s got industry experience – and should you be confused, then take counsel on whereabouts in industry would work for you, dependent on your abilities and personality.

Be assured that your training is designed to your needs and abilities. A reputable training company will always guarantee that the course is purpose built for where you want to get to.

A successful training program will undoubtedly also offer accredited exam simulation and preparation packages.

Ensure that the practice exams are not just posing the correct questions on the right subjects, but additionally ask them in the same way that the proper exam will formulate them. It can really throw some students if they’re met with completely different formats and phraseologies.

For many reasons, it is vital to ensure that you are completely prepared for your final certified exam before embarking on it. Going over ‘mock’ tests will help to boost your attitude and helps to avoid thwarted exam entries.

It’s quite a normal occurrence for students not to check on something of absolutely vital importance – how their company divides up the courseware sections, and into what particular chunks.

Many companies enrol you into a program typically taking 1-3 years, and drop-ship the materials to you piecemeal as you complete each exam. This sounds reasonable until you consider the following:

What would happen if you didn’t finish each and every exam at the proposed pace? Sometimes their preference of study order doesn’t work as well as some other order of studying might.

To avoid any potential future issues, most students now choose to have all their training materials (which they’ve now paid for) couriered out in one package, all at the beginning. You can then decide in which order and at what speed you’d like to take your exams.

A service provided by many trainers is job placement assistance. This is to help you get your first commercial position. Don’t get overly impressed with this service – it’s easy for companies marketing departments to overplay it. In reality, the massive skills shortage in Great Britain is why employers will be interested in you.

You would ideally have CV and Interview advice and support though; and we’d encourage all students to get their CV updated the day they start training – don’t delay until you’ve qualified.

Quite often, you will get your first job whilst still on the course (sometimes when you’ve only just got going). If your CV doesn’t say what you’re learning (and it’s not being looked at by employers) then you’re not even going to be known about!

Actually, an independent and specialised local employment agency – who make their money when they’ve found you a job – should get better results than any division of a training company. Also of course they should know the local industry and employment needs.

A big grievance for many training providers is how much men and women are prepared to work to pass exams, but how ill-prepared they are to market themselves for the role they’re studied for. Get out there and hustle – you might find it’s fun.

We’re regularly asked to explain why traditional academic studies are less in demand than the more qualifications from the commercial sector?

With an ever-increasing technical demand on resources, the IT sector has moved to the specialised core-skills learning that can only be obtained from the actual vendors – for example companies such as Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe. This usually turns out to involve less time and financial outlay.

Of course, a reasonable amount of relevant additional knowledge must be covered, but core specialised knowledge in the particular job function gives a commercially trained person a distinct advantage.

Imagine if you were an employer – and you required somebody who had very specific skills. What is easier: Pore through reams of different degrees and college qualifications from several applicants, having to ask what each has covered and which workplace skills have been attained, or select a specialised number of commercial certifications that perfectly fit your needs, and then choose your interviewees based around that. The interview is then more about the person and how they’ll fit in – rather than on the depth of their technical knowledge.

An Assortment Of Basic Hollywood Movie Plot Summaries

Movie reviews follow this paragraph. If you want to download these movies do some searches to find what is out there. A good movie download search would use phrases such as “Download Unlimited Music”, “Buy And Download Movies Online”, and “Movie Download Services”.

Impressive, mythical film manages to find nobility in the Crusades, although by no means loses sight of its core personality’s personal voyage. The film presents a scorching commentary on our school system, the indomitable power of the family, and the uncertainty of life. (109 minutes, 1994)

Light Years: Conceited energized sci-fi fantasy, in regards to a prince who time-voyages into the future; he’s enclosed by characters identified Ambisextra, Transformation, Chief of the Distorted, and The Collective Voice (so you know this wasn’t made with youthful kids in mind). Halo 3 ODST: Now Out in Stores
October 7, 2009 at 4:12 am

by Crystal Jennings

Halo 3: ODST is one of the newest and most talked-about Xbox 360 games that are now hitting the market. Halo 3: ODST was published by Microsoft and was developed by Bungie. One of the new releases in the market, its release date was just last September 29, 2009.

A first person shooting scenario is the core of this video game. The protagonist of the game is among the many elite human soldiers that comprise the organization called the United Nations Space Command (UNSC).

A Covenant took place and was followed by an attack of an alliance of alien races on Earth. The specific target was the New Mombasa area. The player has to search for his or her missing teammates through an exploration of this area. Because they need to do different quests, the teammates in the game will have to go separate ways.

The similarity between the Halo 3: ODST and other previous Halo versions may no longer be invisible to most people. There is a common misconception that the Master Chief plays the role of a lead character in the Halo 3: ODST and other Halo versions that have been already released earlier. However, for Halo 3: ODST, a lone soldier of the United Nations Space Command plays the role of the lead character. The UNSC lone soldier is also known as the Rookie.

Quick jumps and fast movement are advanced skills endowed by the Master Chief. Unfortunately, the Rookie does not possess these advanced skills. The energy shield that absorbs damages, considered as an asset weapon of the Master Chief, is substituted with a stamina mechanic for the Rookie.

Our lead character can only regain the player’s strength from the damages incurred during the game by adequate resting. If the damage becomes too extreme to the point of exceeding the extent that can still be accommodated by the threshold for stamina. Looking for medpacks is the only solution for restoring the player’s health. The player must look for these medpacks scattered in different areas and locations all over the place.

Now, it’s time to use your hands, make the most out of your experience and play with the Halo 3: ODST! Enjoy and have fun!

Movie Downloads For Everybody
October 7, 2009 at 3:27 am

by Gilbert Lawson

There was a time in the not so far-away history that the only way to see the best movies was to pack up the car and hit the theater or the drive in theater. Drive-in theaters seem to have become very nearly vanished even though there may still be a few scattered all over the United States. These days we have a lot better options when it comes to getting the top movies.

While drive-in movies were very fun back in the day they did not offer a quality screening experience. The sound was full of static and the movie was also a poor interpretation. The fun of it all was being in your car, the friendship with the other consumers and going to the concession stands.

These days we have it so simple. We can now get full length, high quality movies for next to free of charge on the Internet. Most of the dependable sites do charge a small membership fee but it is no more than you would pay for a mail in subscription or a subscription from a store yet the service is remarkable because you can have the movie immediately downloaded 24/7 to your computer.

You can watch the downloaded movie right from your computer but justifiably a lot of folks may not want to do that. Games may be different but for a motion picture it is nice to kickback in a comfy chair, grab some popcorn and a preferred beverage and settle down as you watch the motion picture. But you need not worry about that because most of the dependable sites offer CD/DVD burner software along with the movie so you can burn a DVD and rest as you watch it on your TV.

There are totally free sites that are available out there however; the danger with those is that you can end up transferring not only your movie but also computer viruses, adware, malware and more. When you are looking into downloading movies it is in all probability a good idea to look for the reliable sites that are charging a small fee, that way at least you know that you will be able to locate them if something goes wrong.

Like its predecessors you can more often than not get very fair rates for monthly or annual subscriptions or you can pay per download. If you are looking into buying a package and you want to watch the movies on your TV make sure that the site offers CD/DVD burner software with the package. They must also reassign to you the digital management rights to duplicate the movies onto your disc for playback.

You can generally get music, software and games in addition to the full-length movie downloads. The additional items should be part of the original fee and included in the membership at no additional charge.

Downloading movies makes more sense than renting or buying movies and you can take advantage of this great technology today.

About the Author:
What would you like? Free new movie downloads? The worry with complimentary motion picture downloads is you must be careful of computer viruses and always use an anti-virus/spyware program.
